Embroidery Hoop Wreath

Today I'm going to show you how I made my new wreath using an embroidery hoop...

The supplies:

-embroidery hoop (mine was $2.97 from Walmart)

-hemp string (under $2 at Walmart or any craft store)

**Note- I spent $5 to get my supplies, but I only used half the hoop and about half the roll of hemp string. So this project was around $2 or $3 to make.

- I took the embroidery hoop apart and used the inner circle so I didn't have the bulky part on the outer piece with the screw.

- Tied the string onto the hoop, using a double knot.

- I began wrapping the string around. I didn't allow it it overlap. I wanted it to look tidy.

Every so often I pushed the newly wrapped part over so that it was wrapped around tightly and it wouldn't allow any of the blue hoop to show through.

Any time my roll of string got tangled or I just felt like it, I would cut it off, then add a new knot and continue going. So there are a few visible knots showing on the wreath, which I thought made it look more interesting.

When I was finished wrapping the string around the entire hoop, I added some t-shirt pom pom flowers using my glue gun to finish it off.

I like the simplicity of the hemp string with the bold colours of the yellow and blue flowers.

It definitely makes me think of summer time! Oh yeah!

my new spring wreath! {trash to treasure}

With the nice weather we've had lately, it feels like SPRING could arrive... someday!

This week I made a new wreath..... and the best part was that all the supplies I used were things I already had!

I had used this glittery wreath form for a project in the past, so I stripped it down to use for my new spring wreath!

I used some extra fabric I had after I hemmed curtains & cut it into strips.

I folded each strip so that the frayed ends wouldn't show & began gluing the fabric around the wreath.

I had this once it was all covered...

I whipped up some super easy flowers to girly it up a bit!

I love the pink & grey & white flowers together!

Such an easy transformation from my wreath form & fabric that I would have otherwise thrown away!

spring wreath 2.0

Last year I made a spring wreath. This year I changed the look slightly. 

I give you the Spring Wreath 2.0......

This year I updated the look easily, by adding a couple of my felt flowers.

It's been seriously cold here this past week, so I had plenty of time to dream about spring as we've been cooped up at home. (It's been as cold as -40 degrees Celsius with the windchill- FREEZING!)

2 Easy Wreaths for Christmas [Christmas Re-Post #3]

Hey everyone! I don't know about you, but I getting pretty excited for Christmas!! I thought it would be fun to start off my Christmas posts this season with sharing my Christmas crafts from last year. Enjoy today's projects!

A couple years ago my SIL & I got together to make ornament wreaths! She made a red & gold one and I made this red & silver one.......

I spent less than $10 buying the shatterproof ornaments from the dollar store. All you do is use a wire coat hanger to make the circle form. Then you just add on the ornaments and use some hot glue when needed!

I just LOVE it! And doesn't it look pretty hanging up?!!

And this is the wreath that hangs on our front door.....

I bought the plain greenery wreath, then just added the cranberry sprigs I found at a dollar store. Just really easy & simple!!

spring wreath

I made this spring time wreath this week:



It was oh so easy to put together. I bought the foam wreath from from Michael's, the butterflies from the dollar store, and I think the yarn came from Walmart.

I used a dab of hot glue to attach the end of the yarn, then just wrapped the yarn around until the wreath was all covered. I snipped the yarn and secured the end with another dab of hot glue.

I added the green butterfly, but I'm not sure if I will keep it, or if I will add some fabric rosettes instead. Because the butterfly has a clip on the back, I can change my mind easily!

All done and ready to hang up!

balloon wreath

Here's an easy and inexpensive wreath I made last month when my son had his birthday. A balloon wreath...





I bought this glittery wreath from the dollar store for $2. I also used balloons and tissue paper (both of which can be found at the dollar store as well).



Using my glue gun, I wrapped the tissue paper around the wreath so that glittery stuff wouldn't keep falling onto everything. (I decided after this photo was taken to only use the red tissue paper.)

I tied the balloons onto a piece of yarn I found in with my craft supplies...

Then wrapped and ties the string of yarn onto my wreath. I think I ended up tying a few balloon-covered pieces until I had the amount of balloons I wanted.

Then I hung it with a piece of ribbon. All done!

So easy and customizable. You could add less balloons OR cover the whole thing based on your preference.

And the best part?? You can reuse for other birthdays in the family!

ornament wreath

When my SIL came over for a craft night during the last Christmas season we made wreaths using Christmas tree ball ornaments. I bought the balls from the dollar store, so the project was under $10 to make! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.......

It looks pretty good hanging up!
