Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day is tomorrow, but I have yet to post some ideas that I made up for the grandpas last Father's Day! So if you need a last minute gift idea, this post is for you!

Dad's Root Beer + jar of Reese's Pieces candies......

I just wrote on a Martha Stewart label (you can buy them in packages from Staples and they are so handy!)......

I made these collage prints for the Grandpas. I framed them for my dad and my hubby's dad. (We also mailed a print to the kids' Great-Grandpa.)......

And the kids really enjoyed making some pictures for their daddy, their grandpas, and their great-grandpa......

My kids are quite excited to give my husband his Father's Day gifts tomorrow!

Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments

Last year I helped my kids make up these tree ornaments to give my parents for Christmas.

(Then we made another set to keep for our tree!)

We just used acrylic craft paint for them to dip their thumbs into. When that was dry, I used a toothpick to add the red nose on rudolph, and then a black Sharpie to draw the eyes and antlers!

After making the set of green ones for my parents, I made a red set for our tree!

On the back I added their name and the year. 

My parents really liked them!

Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

Since last weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving, I helped my kids make some crafts!

I helped them put together these Thankful Turkeys (I used this idea from Meet the Dubiens).

They told me what they are thankful for & I wrote things on the "feathers". Then we used glue & tape to put them together. All you need is: construction paper, toilet paper tube, googly eyes, and glue/tape.

We had a lot of fun putting these together and it was a great way to sit down with my kids and talk about our blessings. 

They also made the classic hand print turkeys! They mailed these to grandparents & family members who live far away.

kid's craft idea- styrofoam pumkins

My son & I made this Halloween craft together.....

Supplies needed:

• styrofoam balls
• orange paint
• black sharpie marker
• googly eyes
• green pipe cleaners
• glue

My son's main job was painting them. It was nice to have some time making these little pumpkins together & getting paint all over our hands :)

kid's craft idea- fall leaves canvas

Here's a fall craft that my son (who is almost 4) & I made together....

I bought the canvas from the dollar store for 2 bucks, used Mod Podge & a foam brush I had on hand, and used some leaves that we collected together outside.

He & I placed the leaves in the vicinity of where we wanted them to be at the end, then I glued them on with Mod Podge & let me son try to help a bit with that.

We added some scrapbook letters to spell "FALL" in the blank spot we left. Then I added a couple coats of Mod Podge to seal the leaves.

He loves crafting with me when we have our learning time each day. And I love seeing him explore his creative side and spending time together.
