Blue/Grey/Yellow Bathroom Decor

I'm going to try to post more on this blog. A few months ago I added some new decor to my bathroom. It's the upstairs bathroom by the bedrooms, so it's the one our family uses the most.

I painted the yellow frame on the wall and added photos of my kiddos with mustaches. Just for fun.

Since I took these photos, I bought a striped rug for in front of the sink.

I painted all the little frames in this photo, as well as a vase.

I created this print to hand above the toilet since I think it's hilarious. I suffer from a form of kidney disease where I frequently have multiple or many kidney stones and the associated pain.

I painted the large square yellow &  grey damask print using paint and a stencil. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I framed some photos of my 3 kids in the bath as babies.
I created the "Bubbles" print and the others in the frame with it.
For the "Wash" print, there was one I found online to download for free, but I couldn't get it to work, so I created my own.
I made this Embroidery Hoop Wreath a couple years ago and it was already on the bathroom door.

And that's our bathroom! I love that it's bright and colourful and FUN!

Blue Spray Paint Projects

This summer, I am in *love* with blue!

I found the cutest solar lights at Superstore and bought a couple for our yard. They were around $3 each I believe. Pretty, huh?!

I bought some aqua blue spray paint & have put it to good use so far!

This flower pot was terracotta orange & green before and I think it looks so much better now...

I have had this picture frame/ mirror for more than 6 years...

I liked the white, but I love the blue! I added a picture from our trip to Disneyland last year & it's ready to hang up in the play room!

This blue frame was originally from Walmart & it needed a new look!

With some aqua paint & a picture we took at Santa Monica beach, it makes me happy!

This dollar store flower pot sure needed a make over!

Isn't it so cute now that I painted it & added some flowers to it?

Now to buy some yellow spray paint to give a face-lift to some other stuff I have!!

DIY Kids' Artwork Board

Since I have 2 young kids (my son is 4 & my daughter is 2), our fridge is home to all their crayon pictures and other artwork. Since I am all about them being creative, I wanted to make a place for them to hang more in our basement playroom. Here's what I made...

My husband had some scrap pieces of hardwood in the basement, so I took a long strip that was destined for the trash & some clothespins to spray paint.

The long piece of wood got about 6 coats of glossy white paint & the clothespins only needed 2 coats of aqua blue spray paint.

I didn't take a picture of the next step, but I just added the clothespins with hot glue.

(Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest, these were taken in the basement....at night.

With my son starting kindergarten this fall, I think this will be a great place to display all those larger paintings and craft things that kids make in school.

It also helps fill up some of the blank space that was above the couch in the basement...

My son saw it up today is he has already started making new pictures to hang up on it!

I think it fits right in with our basement play room...

wall of white picture frames

This is a wall of pictures in our upstairs hallway. Here's the left-side:

...and the right side:

Some of the frames were white when I bought them, others were painted or spray-painted white.

distressed collage frame

This frame from Walmart was originally black. I used spray paint to make it white, then sanded some parts to give it the old and distressed look. It hangs in the upstairs hallway with a bunch of other white frames.

small wooden Christmas tree

Here's a little project I made during before last Christmas. I bought a wooden 3D tree puzzle. I spray-painted it green, then used some scrapbook pearls as "decorations". It was easy & turned out cute, AND it only cost me $1.25 to make!

pink vase

Years ago I bought a vase that was white with blue flowers painted on it. (I wish I had taken a BEFORE photo.) So I recently used some bright pink spray paint to make it look like this:

accessory organization

This is how I have organized my daughter's every-growing collection of hair stuff on the wall behind her bedroom door:

I had this memo board that was in my room when I was a pre-teen that I had bought from Claire's.

And here is the new and improved version that it now a hair clip board:

I bought this hook from a dollar store like 3 or 4 years ago. It was $2.00 and I thought it would be nice to hang a purse on in our room. But it wasn't totally my style and I didn't like using it anyways.

So I spray painted it bright pink and mod podged some of the paper that I used elsewhere in her room to make it look like this:

I hang her little hats on this hook thing I got for an awesome clearance deal of only $1.99 from Urban Outfitters last year. Part of me wants to paint it pink or more likely white, but I also like the way it looks now. So I'm leaving it alone unless I decide otherwise.
