ABC quietbook for church {re-post}

For scrapbook saturday today, I thought I would re-post this Gospel Quietbook I made a couple years ago. (Back before I had a craft blog & was posting all my crafty stuff on our family blog.)

X & Y: (instead of including a picture of my son on the letter "y" page -"Y" is for You- I decided to put one of those locker mirrors in the book instead. Kids like looking in the mirror and I can use the same book for our next child as well. He likes looking at this page the best during church.)

My son still likes looking through his book. He likes pointing out all the letters, talking about the Savior and the prophet and the temple. And asking about the other photos

what I did with free printables PLUS ways to jazz up gift card giving

I printed off a copy of a couple of free printables from this site. And put them in some white frames......


The house rules print was just too pretty with the pink door as the background! I had a silver coloured frame that I spray-painted white and I love how it looks now!!

This purple print of the 13th Article of Faith (the youth theme for 2011) was just too perfect for my 14 year old sister that has a purple/pink/yellow room. I bought the plain white frame from Walmart and used my glue gun to add on the fabric flower. I also added the pink gem in the middle.






For her birthday I gave her a gift card to one of her favourite stores (what teenage girl doesn't love clothes AND shopping?!!). So I wrapped up this frame with her gift card like this:





I used ink on a plain chipboard tag and added on the letter "H" and a couple of purple gems to make this cute tag.






For my older brother who also had a birthday this month, I gave him a gift card to a clothes store along with a Kit Kat. I used a couple ribbons and some hot glue to make the gift look more fun....









It's all about the details!! :)

Temple Picture Block

I made this quick and easy project for my son's room a couple weeks ago. Because the Temple is such an important part of my faith, I wanted to have a photo of it in my son's room as a daily visual reminder of it. Instead of simply framing a photo, I opted to add a photo onto a block to make it more durable and able to be handled lots.

All I did was print out a photo of the Temple in our city, distress the edges, the glued it with Mod Podge to the block I had painted white.

I am happy with how it turned out! He is always so excited when I make a project for his room so that is always a bonus :)

"I am a Child of God" wall hanging

This hangs in my son's room:



My husband cut the material to the size I wanted and did a nice edge on it. I then primed and painted it, and added hanging stuff to the back of it. Next, I applied the vinyl lettering I bought from the church bookstore.

We are happy with how it turned out! I love that our son will have the daily reminder of who he is.
