wipes case... tutorial!

Today I'm going to share just how easy it is to make one of those fabric-covered wipes cases! I love how simple and CUTE they are. And they make an awesome little gift for anyone who has just had a new baby!

I made this one today...
Here are the supplies you'll need......

  • fabric
  • felt
  • ribbon
  • scissors
  • glue gun with glue sticks (you'll need 3-4 glue sticks for this project)
  • buttons or other embellishment *optional* (these fabric yo-yo flowers are a great thing to add as well!)
  • and of course, a Huggies wipes case:

First, trace the shape of the wipes container onto your felt. Do this twice because you need one piece for the top and another for the bottom.

I prefer using white felt so I can trace a clear image to cut out, but I only had enough white for one piece. So just pretend that both of my pieces are white here! :) And they don't have to be perfect- they will be covered up anyways!

Using the glue gun, glue one piece to the top. Then one piece to the bottom.

Lay the piece of fabric that you chose for the top over the felt piece on the top of the wipes container. (I decided to sew some pieces together for my top piece of fabric. That isn't necessary, but is another way to personalize this project!)

Then glue near the edge......
And press down the fabric gently as you go. (Try not to make the glue go too close to the edge of your fabric.)

After doing that to the top AND the bottom, your case will look something like this:

Snip off the excess fabric, so there is enough room left to add your ribbon.

Glue down one end of your ribbon, it's best to do this at the back side of your container.

Keep on gluing your ribbon as you go around. Make sure you don't use too much glue that it seeps out.

Once you've added your ribbon to the top AND bottom, it will look like this:

Now add you buttons or embellishments wherever your heart desires, using the glue gun. Then you're all done!

Time to admire your pretty wipes case before you stick it in your diaper bag, or give it away as a gift!
