My Canada Day Decorations

Summer is on it's way and soon Canada Day will be here, on July 1st!

It's easy to find lots of neat ideas for the Fourth of July in the US, but Canada Day ideas are harder to come by it seems.

I decorated my mantle for Canada Day and I still have a few more projects I would like to do before Canada Day comes. Here's how my fireplace mantle looks.....

I got the pair of printables in the blue frames from this website. 

The 8x10 printable of the Canadian National Anthem with the blue & white striped background came from this website.

Canada Day Parfaits and Treats

Before we know it, Canada Day will be here!

Here's a simple treat to put together when you celebrate......

I used some margarita glasses as the dishes for mine......

You will need:

*fresh sliced strawberries (and raspberries would be yummy, too)

*vanilla yogurt

*whipped cream

*maple leaf sprinkles (you can find them at Bulk Barn)

I put in the strawberries, then some yogurt, then more strawberries, then topped it off with whipped cream and some maple leaf sprinkles!

These were a hit & my little kids loved them!

Last year I had this spread of goodies out after lunch on Canada Day......

-mini cans of Canada Dry ginger ale

-maple leaf gummies (25 cent candies at the candy store)

-maple leaf cookies (can be found at Walmart or Superstore)

-and a container of licorice

Lots of sweets to celebrate our amazing country! :)

Maple Leaf Sugar Cookies:

Maple Leaf Sugar Cookies

Yesterday was a rainy day so I decided it was a good opportunity to make some cookies!

I busted out my container of cookie cutters & decided on a maple leaf shape.

And I got to use my cute new red maple leaf sprinkles!

The cookies were a big hit with my kids!

Washi Tape Canada Flag Block

Here's another craft I whipped up for Canada Day.......

I had already painted the block white, so I just grabbed an x-acto knife & cutting mat, a maple leaf die cut shape, and some washi tape......

I placed the maple leaf die cut on the cutting mat, then covered it with washi tape.......

Once it was covered, I just used my x-acto knife to cut it out. 

Then I added 2 strips of washi tape to each end of the wooden block.

Then I glued the maple leaf shape into the centre........

Pretty easy, huh? I am all about the simple crafts lately!

Canada Day Frame

Hey everyone I have another simple Canada Day project to share today!

I had a matted 8 x 10 frame & I thought it would be cool to add this scrapbook paper to it!

I removed the mat so I could mark where I wanted to cut the paper so I was framing the part I wanted...

Then I had this...

I love scrapbook paper & I love being able to use it in decor projects!

Doesn't it fit in perfectly with my all my Canada Day crafts?

Canada Day Canvas

I have another simple Canada Day craft to share with you today, a Canada Day Canvas.......

I had some of this awesome scrapbook paper in my scrapbook stash & I thought the squares & design of the paper would be cool on a canvas......

So I cut out the squares I wanted to use. I had an 8 x 10 canvas, so I had enough space to include 12 of the squares.

I figured out how I wanted them placed & used Mod Podge to add them onto the canvas....

I really liked how it turned out! And I also love how easy it was to make!!
