crayon pail

Here's a crayon bucket I made to hold my son's every-growing collection of crayons:

Here are the supplies you'll need to make one:

  • pail (I bought mine at Michael's. It was $4.99 before I used my 40% off coupon.)
  • paper trimmer, scissors
  • glue stick, ruler
  • patterned paper scraps
  • journalling block and sanding block
  • bling embellishments

I started by cutting my paper strip to the size I wanted. Mine is 2 inches wide. Because the pail is 13 inches around, I attached a different patterned pieces together using glue.

I was able to just dab a little glue in a couple of spots to secure it to the pail.

I used some lettering stickers to make the words "scribble", "draw", and "colour"- then I wrote the word" create" using a scrapbook pen.

I sanded the edges of my journalling spot, using my sanding block. Then I glued that on. I added 2 rhinestone embellishments to each side of my label to jazz it up a bit.

The finished product:

If I had wanted to go all out, I could have decorated the lid as well. Or tied pieces of ribbon to the handle. But I wanted to dress it up just a bit. It is made for a 2 and a half year-old after all.

Now it's all ready to go for colouring time!!

I'm sharing this project here:

  1. What a great idea! Crayon rolls are cute, but can only keep so many crayons in them so I love that you can keep a lot in here. Love your little title area too.
