DIY Painted Ikea Kids Table

For my daughter's 2nd birthday, I made-over an Ikea table for her, as she loves tea parties.

I got this small table that came with 2 chairs (price is in Canadian Dollars).

I bought a set of Martha Stewart paint at Michael's that had some pretty colours I loved and painted it all...

*Note: I already had one chair from this set in case you are wondering how I managed to get 3 chairs!

I chose yellow for the table, pink for one daughter, purple for my other daughter, and blue for my son so they each have a chair, just for them!

I added on cute letting stickers onto the back of each chair & put some Mod Podge over to keep them from peeling off. I bought some flower vinyl stickers from the dollar store to add onto the top.

She loved it when I gave it to her on her birthday and my kids use it each and every day!

Blue/Grey/Yellow Bathroom Decor

I'm going to try to post more on this blog. A few months ago I added some new decor to my bathroom. It's the upstairs bathroom by the bedrooms, so it's the one our family uses the most.

I painted the yellow frame on the wall and added photos of my kiddos with mustaches. Just for fun.

Since I took these photos, I bought a striped rug for in front of the sink.

I painted all the little frames in this photo, as well as a vase.

I created this print to hand above the toilet since I think it's hilarious. I suffer from a form of kidney disease where I frequently have multiple or many kidney stones and the associated pain.

I painted the large square yellow &  grey damask print using paint and a stencil. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I framed some photos of my 3 kids in the bath as babies.
I created the "Bubbles" print and the others in the frame with it.
For the "Wash" print, there was one I found online to download for free, but I couldn't get it to work, so I created my own.
I made this Embroidery Hoop Wreath a couple years ago and it was already on the bathroom door.

And that's our bathroom! I love that it's bright and colourful and FUN!

The Remodel of My Childhood Doll House

When I was expecting my first daughter, I began remodelling my childhood doll house!

It was quite late 80's/early 90's in style. Here are some before photos...

I decided to leave the exterior alone, but I painted the inside walls & trim and redid the fireplace...

I painted the table and painted a design on the wall with a stencil...

I painted and added new fabric onto the furniture & sewed little cushions.
I painted mini canvases and added photos of both my daughters at the same age to look like artwork.

I still have yet to re-do the couch in the living room.
I made the curtains and curtain rod. I made the little white table and the books. The books were made with paper and mod podge. The are stiff and likely can't be destroyed by my kids.
I got the pink mini chalkboard in the dollar section at Michael's. I made the little rug when I was little at a church activity I believe.
In the frame above the couch I added a photo of my 3 kids.

Upstairs I made some bedding for the bed and made the little nightstand and painted the lamp.
I went through my scrapbook stash and added some items onto the wall for decorations.
I sewed more little cushions. My MIL made the little pink rug. The doily-type rugs are doilies I picked up in the dollar section at Michael's.

I really enjoyed decorating up my old doll house for my girls to have! My older daughter is turning 5 in the spring and really wants a big plastic Barbie Dream House and I am all for getting her one cause I think it would be cool for Barbie to have neighbors. lol She is quite obsessed with Barbies- like mother, like daughter!

Anyone else pass on their childhood doll house to their daughter(s)??

A Yellow & Grey Tea Party Bridal Shower

Last month I hosted a Bridal Shower at my house for my husband's sister.
I did the decorations, one sister-in-law did the food & one sister-in-law did the games.

I think it all turned out great and everyone seemed to have a good time!

I thought a tea party shower would be fun as my sister-in-law (the bride) collects tea pots and likes tea. The yellow & grey were her wedding colours, so that made sense to use those for the shower, but it's tricky to find yellow & grey stuff in the fall I tell you!

Here's the invitation I created, I made it to coordinate with the wedding invitation...

The banner I created.

One of the centerpieces & a frame I painted with a photo of the couple in it.

I had this jar out with strips of paper so people could write down some date ideas for the couple.

The bride likes lemon drops and they fit in with the theming ever so nicely

Another one of the centerpieces & another frame I painted with a photo of the couple in it.

And another of the centerpieces & more frame I painted with a photos of the couple inside.

I got this tea pot and had all the guests use a sharpie to sign their names on it and gave it to the bride at the end of the shower as a keepsake.

I made little place-cards for everyone at the tables. I enjoyed bringing out my good China dishes and silverware to make it all fancy for our tea party.

My sister-in-law did veggies & dip, fruit kebabs, cookies, cucumber sandwiches, and tea for the food.

I made label card for in front of each tea pot. I set each tea pot on a doily with a trivet underneath to protect my island.

I made the chalkboard print.

The subway art I made in their wedding colours.

The date night jar idea getting filled as the shower went on.

At the end of the shower, I gave the bride: the jar of date night ideas, the tea pot everyone signed, and the book I wrote down the gifts she was given. I stuck all these favors in the cute yellow gift bag for her to take.
